3 hour half marathon pace chart

If you’re aiming for a 3 hour half marathon pace you will need to run at a pace of around 13:44 minutes per mile or 8:32 minutes per kilometer to come in at just under your desired time.

As with any running you will have put in a lot of training to get to that stage so every second will count and can be the difference between getting a sub-3:00 or not. We’ve included the splits below in both miles and kilometers as we know most runners have a preference even if the race markers will usually be in miles counting up to that magical half marathon finish distance.

Training for a 3 hour half marathon

You will have to be dedicated and consistent in your training if you want to achieve this time, ensuring you complete your weekly sessions of tempo runs, speed runs and long runs, with the typical half marathon training build up of around 12 weeks.

If you’ve got a certain level of fitness then you will be able to trim this time down, but if you’re looking for a PB then you’ll definitely benefit from this level of focus. Generally speaking a half marathon will be less time intensive than a full marathon.

A half marathon is 13.1 miles or 21.1 kilometers. The precise measurements are 13.1094 miles or 21.0975km but generally these are rounded up to the simpler measurements.
